Integrated Solar powered water heating systems - Pressurised solar system

Essentially the integrated solar power water heating system outwardly looks the same as the solar powered gravity system, but is very different in operation. The tank no longer stores the water but plays the role of a heat store. Inside the tank there is a copper coil, and it is through this that the cold water flows and is heated by the fluid inside the tank. The fluid itself is a mixture of food grade glycol and water. System is simple to install - cold water feed in/hot water feed out.

This is a more efficient system than the gravity system and has a faster reheat time.

For specifying the system we would suggest that a normal assessment would be the same as used for an electric water heater +50 litres.

Integrated solar water heating systems in Spain: Integrated solar water heating systems are the simplest to install as they come with a stand or can be sited directly onto a roof. The key requirement is that they face the sun (I know this is stating the obvious but make sure you optimise this and spend time doing so for greatest efficiency) and for best effect they need to be at an angle of 35-48º.
To avoid heat loss through the hot water feed it is advised that the pipe runs are as short as possible and correctly insulated, we advise that a suitable insulation foam is used that is specified for exterior use and is UV tolerant.
